Far too often do us women talk about how men get too comfortable when in a relationship for a period of time. The flowers stop, the sweet notes decrease and the man who once resembled Idris Alba (on a very good day) now reminds you more of Al Bundy asking you to bring him a drink...gross.
On the other hand we have entered an age where men have overall stepped their game up quite a bit. With the whole metro sexual movement, more men are now paying attention to the way that they look (whether they want to admit it or not). Through speaking to a few of my male counterparts it has been brought to my attention that men have the same complaint. However they are focusing more on the physical nature. Although I may be biased...I think that women tend to be very practical. No one actually plans to look in the mirror and discover that they are 15 pounds overweight and now their once low rise jeans that accentuated their curves now only accentuate their booty-do. (For my Ebonics illiterates, booty-do is when your stomach sticks out further than your booty do). When you are juggling the kids and homework, and dinner and meetings and doctors appointments, we tend to do whats comfortable. Throw on the sweats and hit the door.
Although the issue may seem as if we are forgetting to keep it together for the sake of our men. The truth is that we are forgetting about ourselves. We have to remember that as much as we give to our families and careers we need to give back to ourselves. Its important to not lose yourself.
When you know you look good. You tend to feel good. When you feel good your attitude is that much better and its actually a little easier to deal with the stresses of life. With that, don't think of it as keeping it together for him (although that's not always bad). Love yourself enough to be able to look in the mirror and like what you see.
Confidence, swag and motivation to keep it together will keep him always wanting more. Every man wants a bonified, head held high...heel rockin' in them jeans that fit you just right type of woman. Keep it together ladies and do it for you.
